This marks the first exhibition by Koichi Uchida at Yaichi in four years.

From small everyday items to large works that can transform a space—from daily-use tableware to objects and calligraphy—he moves effortlessly between craft and art.
In each piece, the intertwined beauty of people and objects comes vividly to life.

Uchida’s work has a unique power to captivate all who encounter it.

Profile | 1969 愛知県名古屋市に生まれる | 1990 愛知県瀬戸窯業高校陶芸専攻修了 | その後、量産型の製陶工場での勤務を経て、世界各国を旅しながら各地の窯業所を巡り、現地の土でやきものを制作し研究を重ねる。 | 1992 三重県四日市市に移り独立 | 1993～ 個展を中心に活動 | 2012 滋賀県朽木に穴窯を築窯 | 2015 三重県四日市市に萬古焼をアーカイブする私設美術館 BANKO archive design museum(website) を開館 | 近年、三重県菰野町 湯の山 素粋居(website) や 三重県多気町 VISON (website)の総合プロデュースも手掛けるなど、その独自の美意識が多方面に影響を与えている。 |


Profile | 1969 Born in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, Japan | 1990 Graduated from the Ceramics Program at Aichi Prefectural Seto Pottery Senior High School | After graduation, worked at a mass-production ceramics factory, then traveled extensively around the world, visiting pottery studios in various countries and creating works using local clay while deepening his research. | 1992 Moved to Yokkaichi, Mie Prefecture, and became independent | 1993– Has been active mainly through solo exhibitions | 2012 Built an anagama (wood-fired kiln) in Kutsuki, Shiga Prefecture | 2015 Opened the privately run BANKO archive design museum in Yokkaichi, Mie Prefecture, archiving Banko ware (website) | In recent years, he has also undertaken overall production for Sosuikyo in Yunoyama, Komono, Mie Prefecture (website) and VISON in Taki, Mie Prefecture(website), among other projects—extending the influence of his unique aesthetic into diverse fields. |
