日々の暮らしから生まれる器は、
大谷さんの仕事のベーシック。
機能的でありながら、かたちの美しさを大切に作られています。

yaichiのカフェでも日常的に使用しており、
その使い心地や佇まいは、
国内外の料理人からも評価されています。

余白を感じさせる白の美しさが、
器の輪郭と、そこに置かれるものを引き立てます。

やわらかな白の肌に生まれる陰影が、
光や置かれる環境によって、表情を変えていきます。

We are pleased to present an exhibition of works by Tetsuya Otani, a ceramic artist based in Shigaraki.

The vessels he creates, born from everyday life, form the foundation of Otani’s practice.
While firmly grounded in functionality, each piece is carefully shaped with a deep respect for beauty of form.

Otani’s works are used daily in the yaichi café, where their comfort in use and quiet presence have been highly regarded by chefs both in Japan and abroad.

The beauty of the white glaze, with its sense of openness and space, enhances the contours of each vessel and highlights whatever is placed upon it.

Subtle shadows emerge across the soft white surface, changing expression with the light and the environment in which the piece is set.

From practical wares for daily use to unique one-of-a-kind works, we invite you to take your time and enjoy this exhibition.
